Spectacular cliffs of Etretat.

DSCF1754.jpg

Having visited Normandy lots of times over the past few years, I've never managed to make it to the famous Etretat coast. As much as I've always wanted to go there and discover the place on my own, instead of just seeing it on my fellow photographers' pictures, quite often it just happened to be pretty much off my itineraries.

The little town of Etretat has been attracting photographers and artists for centuries. Such celebrities as Claude Monet or Eugene Boudin were spending their time painting and enjoying the beautiful coastline and port. Being rather familiar with the picturesqueness of the place, thanks to hundreds of similar images circulating on the Web, I expected it to be a bit over rated and offering no more than 2 or 3 different viewpoints. Luckily, nothing could turn out to be more misleading...

Beautiful and very changing light, as well as various paths, give countless possibilities to capture those white, chalky rocks, creating impressive cliffs that fall vertically into the sea.

Rock formations around Etretat are breathtaking. In the area you can admire several rock arches of different sizes, as well as rocky spires and countless cliffs. The landscape is perfectly complemented by charming chapel, located on one of the hills.
